Ireland set to reopen embassy in Iran

 Ireland is to re-open an embassy in Tehran before the end of 2023, the Government has decided. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister for Defence, Simon Coveney, today announced the re-establishment of an Irish Diplomatic presence in Iran. The Irish Embassy in Tehran closed in 2012, due to the impact of the financial crisis. Ireland’s Embassy in Ankara has maintained diplomatic relations with Iran via a Secondary Accreditation.
