Iranian Athletes Win 30 Colorful Medals in Turkey's Islamic Solidarity Games
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian athletes participating in competitions in different sport fields in Konya, Turkey, won a total 30 colorful medals, including nine gold, 13 silver and eight bronze.
Iranian freestyle wrestlers won three gold, one silver and one bronze medals on the second day of the Islamic countries freestyle wrestling competitions in Konya, Turkey.
In 125 kg, Seyyed Mehdi Hashemi Joibari defeated his Turkish opponent Salim Ercan 8-0 and won gold medal. In 92 kg, Ahmad Bazri could also outscore his Turkish rival 4-0 and gained gold. In 79 kg, Ali Savad-Kouhi beat his Turkish rival and got gold also.
Therefore, Iranian athletes won three gold medals on the second day of the Konya competitions.
Iran’s 72kg athlete Mohammad Reza Rostami won gold for the Iranian Greco-Roman wrestling team, in 2021 Konya Islamic Countries Solidarity Games on Friday.
The final and qualification matches of the first five weights of the Greco-Roman wrestling are being held as of 7 pm Friday, in Konya, Turkey.
In 72-kg weight Mohammad-Reza Rostami in the first round beat Shahrouz Uchilov, from Tajikistan, 9-nil. In his second and semi-final match versus Mirza Bak Ramatof from Uzbekistan Rostami won 7-4 to reach the final.
Meantime, efforts of Iran taekwondo team champions on the last day of Konya 2022 Islamic Countries Solidarity Games led to two more gold and two more silver medals for them.
On Friday, the last day of the Islamic Countries Solidarity Games competitions four Hugo-clad Iranian athletes faced their competitors that in men’s game they gained two gold and in women’s games two silver medals, so that the Iranian national taekwondo team will end its work with 13 medals in this event and this field.
The Iran national men’s table tennis team beat Saudi Arabia to win the 2021 Konya Islamic Countries Solidarity Games table tennis gold medal on Thursday.
The final match of the Islamic Countries Solidarity Games men’s table tennis was held on Thursday night, in which the Iranian team mightily passed through the Saudi dam to gain the games’ gold medal.
In the first final match Noshad Alamian beat his competitor 3-1 and in the next final match his brother Nima Alamian easily beat the Saudi player 3-nil.
In the 3rd, and doubles’ match Iran’s Afshin Noruzi and Nima Alamian beat the two-man team of Saudi Arabia 3-0, and thus after the Iranian women’s team, Iran gained its second gold medal in table tennis mightily.
Turkey and Yemen jointly won the bronze medal of the games in table tennis.

The final match of table tennis team of the Islamic Countries Solidarity Games was held in Konya, Turkey, between Iran and the host country, Turkey, and at the end the team of Head Coach Hamideh Iran-Manesh gained the championship, despite the wholehearted applaud of the spectators throughout the game for the home team.
In the first match, in singles field, Iran’s Mahshid Ashtari faced Uzgeh Yilmaz, whom she beat 3-2. In the second match Iran’s Neda Shahsavari, the Iranian team’s captain, in an exciting match beat Sible Altinkaya 3-nil, proving the Iranian team’s 2-0 superiority.
The third match was the couples’ competitions in which Neda Shahsavari and Shima Safaie from Iran face Simai Kulakchen and Sibel Altinkaya from Turkey, in a very close match, that ended 3-2 in Iran’s favor.
In the fourth match, too, Shima Safaie faced Uzge Yilmaz, which ended in favor of the Turkish side 3-2, and this the two teams each had two points.
In the last and very sensitive match Mahshid Ashtari faced Kulak Cheken, which ended 3-1 in Astari’s favor, to bring the Iranian team a precious gold medal.
Turkey naturally gained the silver and Uzbekistan and the Maldives jointly won the games’ bronze medal.
Iranian para-archery team won three gold and two silver medals in the 5th edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games 2021 underway in Konya, Turkey.
The Iranian team, Hadi Nouri and Ali Sina Menshazadeh snatched the gold medal in the men’s compound event. At the same time, Maryam Yavarpour and Farzaneh Asgari won the gold medal in the female’s compound event in the double match category on Friday.
Ali Sina Menshazadeh and Farzaneh Asgari gained the gold medal in the mixed compound event in the double match category.
Somayeh Rahimi and Asghar Zarenejad won the silver medal at this tournament.

The 2022 Islamic Solidarity Games is underway in Konya, Turkey from 9 to 18 August 2022. The event was moved from 2021 to 2022 to avoid a clash with the delayed Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
More than 4,000 athletes from 56 countries compete in the Games in Konya, Turkey.
There are 19 sports and four Para sports on the program.
